Day 1 is Where Innovative Thinking Begins at GreyB– Ft. Ananya

Summarize this blog post with:

Recently, one of my colleagues brought up a reel we had made during their icebreaker.

It instantly took us back to that day. I still don’t know how we pulled off a mannequin challenge with 40+ people in a single take.

Watching it again, we couldn’t stop laughing.

Before I could catch my breath, a thought popped into my head.

Every new batch adds something to GreyB.

Sometimes it’s a fresh perspective. Sometimes it’s an idea. And sometimes, it’s something none of us see coming.

So last month, while welcoming our newest bees into the hive, Rohit Jaswal gave them one simple task: “Write a song about GreyB.”

No brief.
No template.
No examples.

Just a blank page.

Twenty minutes later, they came back with this:

Itni shakti dena data, GreyB mein hum badhte jaayen,
Har chunauti ko apna kar, naye raaste hum banaayen.
Jigyasa ho mann mein itni, har sawaal ka hal dhoondh paayen,
Seekhte hue har din yahan, khud ko aur behtar banaayen.
Mehnat ho pehchaan humaari, sachchai se kaam nibhaayen,
Team ke saath milkar hum bhi, har manzil ko chhoo kar aayen.
Itni shakti dena data, sapno ko sach karte jaayen,
GreyB ki is nayi udaan mein, apni pehchaan banaate jaayen.

Honestly, I wasn’t expecting something like this in just twenty minutes.

When given an open-ended task, most of us instinctively look for a reference. The first instinct is often to look for reasons why it won’t work.

“I’ve never done this before.”
“I’ll need more time.”
“Someone else would do this much better.”

But not these newbees. They simply created.

What stayed with me wasn’t just the song. It was what it represented.

We often assume innovative thinking comes with years of experience, strategy discussions, and brainstorming sessions.

But at GreyB, it begins in the middle of an icebreaker activity, with nothing more than a blank page.

And that’s one of the things about GreyB that stands out. We don’t wait for tenure before expecting originality. We don’t assume creativity comes with experience or a title. We hand people a blank page from day one and trust them enough to surprise us.

Every batch leaves behind something that becomes a part of GreyB. This one left behind a song. And a reminder that innovative thinking doesn’t have to wait for experience.
