Step-by-Step Guide to Uncover Crucial Business Insights Using ASEAN Patentscope

Patent data, especially patent claims, can help with various tasks, such as assessing the market, analyzing competitors, identifying innovative trends, evaluating risks, and devising market-entry strategies. Such patent information is generally straightforward with databases like Google Patents, Espacenet, WIPO Patentscope, etc. However, there is a challenge for countries such as Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

For instance, for Indonesian patents, while you can obtain bibliography data from databases, the most crucial part- patent claims, often remain unknown. Verifying these patents on the local Indonesian patent office website yields no details regarding the claims either.

This information scarcity can have profound implications for companies planning to set up or operate in Indonesia. Since the claims outline the boundaries of intellectual property, revealing the protected innovations and the open territory for creative endeavors, missing out on them makes companies vulnerable to litigation threats and impedes an accurate understanding of the technology landscape. This study encompasses a step-by-step guide to uncovering the elusive patent data for such countries using the ASEAN Patentscope.

For ease of understanding, we will concentrate on claim searching for Indonesian patents, and the search procedure will also be comparable to other countries.

How to search Indonesia Patents On ASEAN Patent Scope and Find Relevant Details?

Step 6: Once you click the search button, an overview of the patent is displayed along with various tabs at the top with further details, including the patent claims you could not find anywhere else.

WIPO Patentscope vs. ASEAN Patentscope

While ASEAN Patent Scope is a platform that functions similarly to WIPO Patentscope, a key difference is that ASEAN Patentscope offers links to only ASEAN patent offices. Through ASEAN Patent Scope, you can find patent information for nine nations: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

It enables users to access patent databases, search for patent-related details, and obtain relevant documents in these countries.

Conclusion

Retrieving patent data is just the beginning of patent evaluation. To fully benefit from this data, finding insights and creating actionable business strategies is crucial.

Moreover, by seeking an expert opinion, you can ensure that your analysis is accurate, legally sound, and aligned with your business goals.
