DFA and Pizza Hut
In 2022, Dairy Farmers of America collaborated with Pizza Hut (Yum! Brands). Pizza Hut has begun coordinating with DFA and dairy suppliers to engage interested dairy farm families in the cooperative dairy project. The collaboration aided in implementing energy-efficient and cost-effective on-farm milk cooling systems. This included the installation of new natural well water and forced air barn cooling systems on an Iowa DFA-member dairy farm that supplies milk to Bel Brands. Adopting these cooling systems resulted in a 6% reduction in the dairy’s electricity usage over a year, while milk production grew by 4%.
