The initial results showed information about a different compressor profile (6/5), which did not match the project’s goals. When searching for system design prior art, there was no clear reference on generating the desired 5/4 profile or the math needed to calculate the secondary rotor’s profile depth. This created uncertainty about the next steps in the search.
Solution Offered
While investigating system design, the team found several publications by a professor at City University, London. They followed the inventor’s earlier work to uncover more relevant publications. One key publication revealed that the inventor had developed a software called “DISCO,” available before the cut-off date, which could generate the intended compressor profiles. The team installed an older version of this software and successfully created the 5/4 profile. They also performed manual calculations for the relative profile depth. This process led to the discovery of valuable prior art that met the project’s goals.
